Apparently Urban Meyer is going address the B1G coaches on how to recruit better.
I find it funny, guy comes in & one year later he thinks he owns the place.
It seems the Ohio State head coach isn't happy to see so few Big Ten schools atop the recruiting rankings.
First, please learn how to listen or read. He DID NOT say he was going to address B1G coaches on how to recruit better. He said the level of recruiting in the B1G has to improve. Do you really want to dispute that? Are Iowans not embarrassed that a school with the history of Iowa finished 52nd in the country in recruiting? 52nd? With a coach that has been there as long as Ferentz and should be absolutely hooked into hundreds of high school coaches? Seriously? Iowa has less to offer than Indiana?
And secondly, uh, he does own the place already.
This thread isn't about Iowa's recruiting, it's about Urban Meyer being a typical douche

Urban tells 97.1 he will address the poor recruiting in B1G directly with those coaches at upcoming meeting
At least let the man pretend youre putting up a fight, Big Ten.

You're more than welcome to engage in legitimate discussion on our board, as several other OSU fans have in the past and continue to do. But coming here and immediately bashing Iowa isn't the best way to start off.
Shouldn't be an option Todd, it shouldn't be allowed at all. We have plenty of very respectful posters from other boards here that are great to talk to, we should not be able to be slammed on our own site. I know you are awesome about it but just saying.
The topic was B1G recruiting, and where a storied program like Iowa finished is more than germain to the discussion, is it not? I did not bash Iowa. I pointed out that they were a part of a very disappointing B1G recruiting season, this is what Meyer mentioned.
A typical douche? He DID NOT say he was "going address the B1G coaches on how to recruit better." You make it sound like he is going to teach them how - not what he said, but if you believe he is a "douche" not much point in talking to you.
Why not read exactly what he said?
You didn't merely point out that Iowa was part of a very disappointing recruiting season - you called it embarrassing. As others have said, you know very well that there's no way anything close to that would fly on the OSU board from an opposing fan. Final warning from me.

Urban told 97.1 in Columbus its "essential" B10 recruits better. At coach meeting "our whole conversation needs to be, how do we recruit?"
Seriously? "embarrassing" is what sent you off?. It was embarrassing for a school as great as Iowa to finish behind Indiana for example. And I guess the standards on 247 sites are quite different. The ohio State site bans personal attacks, profanity (I guess "Douche" is OK with you then?), etc, not legitimate statements. Final warning for what? For bringing up a sore subject, I guess.
We'll see you in 2014.
Oh yes, we finished behind Indiana this year. Only because they hired the father of one of our COMMITS to sway him back to Bloomington. Sore subject? Yeah you could say so.
they are so arrogant they don't even realize they are bashing people. His 2nd post was fine with me but other than that........ you da man Todd
Ahh, Hubris, the tide of Arrogance, the abject snobbery, the blind pride.
It's the kind of Hubris that takes Titans, coaches and programs down.
From jewelry, trinkets, cover-ups and lies, to bans.
And to still think they believe. "We can be this way, it was only 1 year."
Urban Meyer tells 97.1 The Fan he will "address the poor recruiting in the B1G directly with those coaches at the upcoming coaches meeting."
He did tell a fan he would address the coaches about recruiting.
My feeling is that Meyer is correct about the poor recruiting in the B1G. The SEC has won the last 7 ntl. championships.
Why does the B1G do so poorly in bowl games? Why has Iowa been disappointing the past seasons?
...and they aren't going to get any better until Ferentz and his staff begin to recruit better athletes. Even Penn State, a team who is a program with no bowl games to play in the next 3 years, and has other consequences towards their program which should have a direct affect on recruiting, did better than Iowa and many other B1G programs. I've seen their class ranked in the top 25 recruiting classes.
Sorry, as much we Iowa fans don't care for Urban Meyer and Ohio State, Meyer does have a point.
Actually I have it as:
2.) Attrition (Draft and Dismissals)
3.) Poor Clock Management
4.) Poor Play Calling
5.) Poor Execution
then somewhere in here I would say recruiting.
He asked if Iowans were embarrassed he didn't say it was embarrassing.
Smart move by ending that guy's rant early.
Going back to the article, I do think that recruiting needs to pick back up for the Big Ten a little bit. One thing I love about the B1G is how well we develop players. We (B1G) don't always have all of the 4* and 5*, but boy do were turn the 3*, 2*, and walk-ons into something special. I think the the tide has shifted towards the SEC recently when it comes to recruiting, NCs, and the spotlight. Hopefully the B1G will pick up next year and we will be able to steal some of that spotlight from the SEC.

If there is disparity in college recruiting now (Kentucky beats out 7 BiG teams with its class)? How will the rules changes improve it; I seriously wonder if allowing offers to sophomores, unlimited phone contacts, texting, and paid recruiting staffs will improve the situation at all, no matter what Urban has to say about it. He'll probably be the first to exploit the new rules.
Sophomore offers, recruiting staffs could soon be in vogue

The BIG is the best all-around conference in the country. We have great tradition at all of our member schools and recruiting goes in cycles. However, there are some things that the BIG schools can change to get more competitive to attract better players. It starts with hiring better coaching staffs. Unfortunately, money is one of the biggest hurdles as the BIG coaches are under paid compared to other BCS programs. They could attract a higher quality coach with more money. The BIG has to get more aggressive in recruiting as other programs are not playing by the same rules.
Bashing other BIG schools is not the way to do it. It is going to take a concerted effort from the entire BIG to take a step forward. It is essential due to the format starting in 2014 as the SOS and wins of the BIG will be a key component in playing for championships. The current rankings from recruiting in 2013 are not where they should be for this great confernece.
How do we fix it?
"It's great to be home." -Urban Meyer
Coming in and saying learn how to read or listen, and being argumentative about a post on our board and then says he already rules the B1G. We are a great group of people to talk to about sports and in general, no one is over at your site saying this, we are doing it on our own board. If I go over to another site and see something I don't like I don't chime in on it, because it is not my place to do so. If someone came here and started saying things about Iowa football then I would say something. He got warned, he didn't let it go, his own fault.
Wish I knew,
