Why haven't we offered him a Full ride?
6'4" and 235 lbs with speed and athleticism.
Sounds like Chad Greenway in high school..
Let's get him, eh? Coaches get up there
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
Because he wasn't that productive against good competition. I watched his semi-final and final game and he was a non-factor. In 3-A Iowa HS football. It's not worth it, imo. The coaches obviously feel the same.
Just offered by UNI. Let's see, they have been known to produce a few good players.
Also, have heard that Skibinski was sick prior to game you reference.
Of course, we 'can't take any chances' on having to develop a kid with these PHYSICAL skills, can we?
So we should offer just because UNI offered? You know that we are on a completely different level of football then UNI right?
I've A TON of good things about this kid.
That is why I think he should be playin at Kinnick.
Have you seen him play?
The UNI offer is just one additional piece of evidence why the Hawkeyes should do it
Right now, I'm skeptical a bit of our Recruiting
Did the Sagarin tell you he's a good player? Cause I'm sure a computer could tell you he's D1 material. Anybody with eyes that has seen this kid play will tell you he's "not athletic" as you call him.
Iowa is not offering him cause he couldn't shine in 3A Iowa football. What were his stats? What did you see him do film so special? Nothing!
You want us to offer a kid just cause UNI offers him? I don't care if its the day before signing day, if we want any UNI commit we take them without even asking.

Yeah, as I recall fuisu 'recommended' Ali Farokmenash should go to UNI, ' because he wasn't a good jump shooter'.
Ahh..Skyhawk52 the provoketeur...
Is this kid a cousin or nephew on your wife's side of the family?
There are only about 20-25 kids the Hawk's can sign each year. Hopefully, they are proven commodities instead of diamonds in the rough, but it does happen, ala Chad Greenway. I do think there are a few too many plaayers Iowa signs to scholarships listed as only having outstanding offers to schools such as Toledo or Slippery Rock instead of Michigan, Ohio, or elsewhere that makes me think our recruiting success is less than it should be, needs to be, or has to be. I wonder why? Because we are not sexy? Bill Snyder seems to do OK.
I dont care about basketball so that joke makes no sense to me. In fact I dont care about basketball so much that Iowa could lose every basketball game for the next 5 years and you wouldnt hear me complain once.
We have 3-4 scholarships open right now, we dont have openings this early in the game for some pet project DE. Your hoping for some random DE who's other offers are NDSU, Western Ill, UNI and Tenn Tech. Im hoping for Chikwe Obasih whos other offers are Cal, Purdue, Ole Miss, Whiskey.
Good to hear from you, golden.
Skibinski is not a relative, (if he was, I'd probably go to a KF presser and tell him about him )
However, I've heard A LOT of good things about him.
And.......in case some in this thread didn't notice, from the games I witnessed this year........let's see that would be
ALL of them.......the Hawkeyes could use a few more tall, runs like a deer and built linebackers. Skibinski fits the bill.
Dallas Clark was similar in size and played Division 8-man FB.
We definitely need to get this kid to Iowa City. Brandon Wegher's Dad told FUisu that he could be the next J.J. Watt.
Actually though-----------I'm serious as a heart attack. Skibinski needs to be a HAWKEYE.
On paper Skibinski seems like a great player. Everything I've read about him is that he didn't dominate low division football like you would expect a BCS caliber player to. I would have no issues offering him a preferred walk on spot or maybe even a grayshirt. I agree that his size is intriguing, but if he's 235 now, that sounds like defensive end material where Iowa has a few bigger fish to fry.
He had a very fine career. But I watched him play twice against the best competition in his class, and he was a non-factor. Yes, he was athletic, but when a solid o-lineman was on him, he was neutralized. I wasn't impressed in the two games I saw. Saying that a UNI offer is a reason for him to get an Iowa offer, is one of the most asinine things that I've heard in regards to football recruitment. "If UNI can offer him and UNI only lost to Iowa by 9, then he must be D-1 scholly material!"
Watched him play twice in person against the likes of LeMars and Spencer. He got dominated.
Watched him play once on tv. He got dominated.
