For those of us that weren't able to attend. I look forward to UI's take on the whole atmosphere.
Thank you for sharing.
Here's a longer one on Youtube. I love the webz.
20th anniversary of Chris Street's death. This was the halftime show. #CMS40
Best atmosphere for a Hawkeye game, probably since that NIT game, last year.
However, our fans ran out of gas in the 2nd half, I felt. They should have kept it deafening in there, as it was in the
first half and whenever, Mel and Eric had the slams.
NFL kicker, Nate Kaeding and his wife were in attendance.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
Fran said after the game "There was an energy level in the building I've never seen before."
Pretty incredible night.
Brommy, why don't you cover these games live for 247? Is that just not part of your agreement with them? IIRC, you live in the area and I swear Fish said, at some point, that you covered some games live for this site.
Anyone know if Dr. Tom made it to the game?
Thanks for sharing. Wow.
No way Iowa would've lost -- to anyone -- last night.
By far the coolest part of the game was Street's jersey on Fran's chair. Seeing that gave me (and probably most people) chills. It honestly felt like his spirit was in CHA last night, especially early on. Wisconsin had some bad rolls off the rim and Iowa had some good ones, it just felt as if someone was helping Iowa jump on the Badgers early.
The May steal and dunk was crazy awesome how loud it got. I honestly don't think I've seen CHA like that (19). If Gesell hits that 3 on the next possession, the roof falls, it would have been great.
All in all, I'm very proud to have Iowa got the win, a very big win.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Me and my bro brought the noise and kept our section into it as best we could...
Anyone who's there saw if Jok was with Horner or any other recruits? Awesome for you guys to be a part of the crowd, keep up the decimal levels.
Agree that the Eric May dunk was a RAISE THE ROOF moment at Carver Hawkeye arena.
Very Fun and satisfying, to see Eric May help lead this program back to the top.
Eric's been a total Class act, throughout his ENTIRE career.
wow...that was great! thanks so much for sharing that.
The only time I saw Horner was during the halftime ceremony....lost track of him after that, sorry.
Did not see Jok, but doesn't mean he wasn't there....it was pretty packed.
Although, even though they listed it as a sell out, there were some empty seats, like a rather conspicuous group of 20-25 seats in one section about 30 rows up on the Hawk's Nest end of the court, and few smaller groupings (5-10 seats) in a rows sprinkled throughout CHA. I'd say there were at least 15,000 in the arena. Like noted, it was louder throughout the first half when the emotion was fever pitch, and in the second half it was at it's loudest after May's steal/dunk.
kids are not back in class until tuesday...was glad to see so many came back for the weekend game!
Found this video of the Street family receiving the game ball, thought everyone might like to see it.
Mike and Patty Street receive the game ball in the lockerroom after the Hawkeyes defeat Wisconsin. The game was played January 19th, 2013, 20 years to the day after Chris Street passed away in an automobile accident.
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
Well, getting some national press now from Yahoo on the NCAA's denial of "Street" on the back of IA uniforms:
