There wasn't really any crime in this case so you can't go to the police. I don't know who else they could have gone to?
"He showed up in her dorm room one afternoon that same fall — unannounced and uninvited — closed the door and refused to leave."
He could have been charged.
Lol... Good point truth
I for one say post anything you want here, about anybody you want, anytime you want. Maybe some people don't want to hear Alford's name again but they are free not to read what is written.
Before there was space or time there was rock and roll.
That's fair but that's really not worth calling the police IMO.
yes it is .....
Wrestling owns the Olympics
How is trespassing not worth calling the police over?
Who knows what would have happened if people weren't outside?

When he closed the door and refused to leave, that is considered confinement and the CA could have determined he did this with intent to commit sexual assault, which would be a kidnapping charge.
To Hardy's credit, I never knew there was this level of animosity. Bryce Miller at the Rag was pretty uncomplementary too.
Thanks FG80 for the clarification. Didn't know if the charge would be trespassing or something even worse.
Regardless, it just amazes me that Alford is still respected by anyone in Iowa City at this point.
Pat Harty's story easily hits home with many of us who have daughters or nieces. It's terrible. One may wonder if there were any other victims who didn't come forth or who were told to keep silent or reported incidents that were swept under the rug.
It makes a person wonder if this type of case where the university personnel such as the coaching staff and a others involved in protecting Pierre Pierce could compare to such a case as with Jerry Sandusky.
The University of Iowa could have really taken a beating had these cases been presented as a cover-up like the cases in State College, Pennsylvania.
Alford released this statement...says hes sorry for being insensitive...what a d'bag
I was just about to post this over here. He's only about 10 years late in saying this.
I'm sure he had his attorney or someone of that nature write up the response for him. Or, he was told to give the response.
I guarantee that ol' Stevie didn't write that himself or decide to do it on his own.
Steve was visited by the spirit of Wooden and he now sees little Timmy in everyone, lol...
Saving the best till last three sentences.........
"I expect all of our coaches to serve as an example to our student-athletes and the entire Bruin family, displaying true character and strong values. Working with Steve over the last two weeks I am confident that he will demonstrate the leadership we expect of all our coaches."
Translated: Alfie, your leash is about 1/2 as long as it was last week. Glad we could help you write out for the folks what you really wanted to say, or maybe should have said at the presser. You WILL heel when we tell you to heel. Don't make us look like fools for hiring you, at least not this soon.
Not when the victim didn't want to go forward. You have to respect that. So basically the only option was what they did.
i suspect you have no daughters - teenage or older.
calling the police (by anyone in ear shot, or the girl after the fact) to report an incident is exactly what should have happened - let them sort it out. i'm not suggesting that he should have been confined for anything, nor am i suggesting she (and her parents) should go all out to get this guy. just report, and all is what it is. at least it is documented, and that could be enough of a deterrent for him, and others like him ...... for future ass wipe moves.
in other words - i don't understand your point at all.
Fucla just lost their top 2013 recruit, 4 star, top 100 SG, Allerik Freeman who requested and was granted a release from his LOI that he signed in November. The hiring of Alford is quickly turning into a disaster for their AD, Dan Guerrero, and I'm loving it!
i second that
Isn't it nice to not have all this drama (and the defections too) in the bball program?
Alford already finds him self in the La brea tar pits with LA media/
What seemed like a perfect match got mired in controversy the very day Steve Alford was introduced at UCLA. Now fans are skeptical, and he has his work cut out.
As Yogi Berra said, "it's deja vu all over again."
