Read a couple of interesting things about 'Boy Wonder' in
New Mexico, today.
Apparently, New Mexico is now 11-0, although they haven't really played anyone.
Also, saw something about Boy Wonder's son, Bryce averaging 40 pts a game at a
High School out there. I'm going to guess that Iowa won't be really in the running much
for Bryce's skills in college.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
He wasnt a good fit at Iowa for some reason. Hes a good fit at New Mexico for some reason. I have always felt that Iowa was cursed after the way they sent Tom Davis packing. Its called karma. Sometimes I think that maybe Fran can reverse the curse then I remember that Iowa basketball has been breaking my heart since the mid 80's. In turn I have been breaking remote controls since before they went cordless.
One of his other sons is on the NM roster. Saw an "Alford" in the box score a few times getting in some mop-up time.
He's 6 seasons removed from Iowa. Sure, they'll get in the NCAA again, but won't go very far again.
I wish him well, but so many of those Lobo fans are real DBs.
Bryce has already signed with NM. Neal's son, Cullen, signed with a DI school as well.
Alford would be playing .500 ball if he was still in the Big Ten. He can have all the undefeated seasons in New Mexico he wants, but his team still bows out early if they even make it to the Big Dance. He is a mediocre coach with an inflated ego and was never a good fit with Iowa. I will completely agree with you there. Iowa finally has there coach that will bring them back to the, at the worst, Davis days, and hopefully back to the Lute era. It may have taken them a little longer with a wayward Lickliter along the way, but it's worth it.

Boy wonder's perfect record goes up in smoke to Powerhouse,
South Dakota State.
OK..........in fairness to Boy Wonder,
I see that his team went into Cincinnati and knocked off a
Top ten rated team.
Boy wonder can coach. Actually, I really thought, personnel wise, he did a
very good job of getting a lot out of his players. Even at Iowa.
