With Spearman set to announce later this evening, I figured I'd start a thread where everyone can discuss his decision before, during and after the announcement.
EDIT: I confirmed with the school that the ceremony begins at 6 CST. There are about 8-10 people announcing, and I'm pretty sure Reggie won't be going first.

We havent really had many decision dates this year. It seems like its just been people committing.
Good point. There will be three over the next two days, with Spearman (today), Parker (Wednesday) and Veii (Wednesday).
Hope he commits but other sites are giving the vibe that he's someone else's fish to land.
Ahhh that is not news I want to hear. I'm going to stick with Todd's thoughts.
I hope Todd's right, he should be.
Didnt Syracuse just lose a HC? What conference do they play in? Isn't Spearman a football player not a basketball player?
Illinois is a sinking ship and Beckman is gone after this year. Also it's a basketball school.
If we don't land Spearman, after losing Lemelle to UCONN I'm going to start to worry about the current state of affairs
What is the official time of the announcement? did I hear 6pm?
I am going to go ahead and trust Todd and Steve on this. As they are usually pretty accurate on this stuff.
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
I believe it starts around 6 CST, but Reggie actually doesn't know the exact time. I'll be sure to pass along whatever I hear.
"Other sites"? Pshaw.
I can't believe that anyone would wanna play in front of 37K people, when he could come here and play in front of 2X that many, and an opportunity to play in front 3X on the road. According to Todd, Lemelle had a legitimate excuse to wanna be in the little pond...I don't think so with Spearman. He wants to be in the "big time", and that ain't in upstate New York.
Is there to be a live feed?
Especially given that Syracuse doesn't have the close to home advantage over Iowa like UCONN did with Lemelle. For one, Iowa actually is closer to home for a big recruit than an east coast suitor.
Great points there Fish.
I don't think Simeon has a live feed, so is there going to be anyone from 247 who would be there live by chance to tweet away...lol.
I know of one guy from Fox Sports who will be in attendance and doing so. Sorta of a rival site guy to Todd and the boys, so I don't wanna promote him here.
I don't think Iowa has to worry about Illinois. This one comes down to whether he wants to play with his friend at Syracuse or in the Big Ten.
Todd, do you know if his friend he went on the official visit with to Syracuse committed to the Orangemen? If not, I think that bodes well for Iowa.
As for Lemelle, did anyone happen to see he made the honorable mention list for the USA Today All American team?. Also on the list was Campos. No one for Iowa.
If your talking about OT Kendall Moore, then no, he is to announce tonight along with Spearman. I can't believe he would pick the Orange over Oklahoma. I kinda wish we had recruited him more myself.
I don't believe so. I spoke to two people at Simeon, and they both said no. If I find out otherwise, I'll be sure to pass that along.
We don't have anyone located in the general vicinity of Chicago, but I'll be posting an article here (if it's Iowa) or a board post linking to an article elsewhere (if it's another school) immediately.
"I'll be posting an article here (if it's Iowa) immediately."
So basically you're telling us you already have one typed up and ready to post that he committed to Iowa, you just don't want anyone getting angry...
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
I don't believe Oklahoma is actually in the picture at this point.
I have one for all three. Just covering all my bases.
Todd, would you like me to run over to Simeon and be an official reporter?!
