RPI No. 91 and Sagarin gave us a big drop to No. 41 after that awful incident on Sat.
A win at home vs. a lower-rated team does not do much.
Hawks jump up 2 notches in the RPI to No. 90.
However, Sagarin has us back in the 30s at No. 38.
Imagine what a win at Indiana would do for us!
Just went and took a look at Iowa's BPI ranking...and they have a "tournament info" tab, showing, in their opinion, who's in and who's out.
Currently, they have Iowa as the first one out.
Check out the latest NCAA college basketball BPI rankings.
Showing as of now that Iowa is one of the last teams in...hopefully we can sneak in!
"Hard work will always beat talent....When the talent doesn't work hard!"
Iowa at 91. ISU is at 54 so if they can knock off Oklahoma today (RPI #25) and get into the top 50, it'll give Iowa another top 50 win, which is huge.
Our RPI actually jumped, from 91 to 87.
Sagarin at 37.
Fell out of this one.
A 4 point jump isn't too bad for that loss. I expected it to stay about the same, but RPI is heavily based on SOS. Also, a win against Illinois could have a nice boost to it. Lot of teams ahead of Iowa are all within a tiny percentage of each other. Gotta hope for a few of them to lose.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Even though this was a home game, it should be a good jump in the RPI.
At tipoff we were still at No. 87 and Illinois was No. 34.
75 as of now. Bubble, the Hawks are coming for you!

Next win won't do much (RPI) since we are home and will be heavy favorites.
When does our game start on Sat?
1:21 edit: this is central, so 2:21 for you.

RPI No. 75
Sagarain No. 36
ESPN BPI "in"
No change after Thursday's action.
RPI No. 75, Sagarin No. 36 and ESPN BPI still "in."
ESPN BPI, still "in" and also the last projected at-large bid.
We just moved up 2 notches to No. 74, but subject to change today as there is so much more action.
Regardless of RPI, the Hawks are showing too much good stuff recently to be spurned by the NCAA committee. Most would say "no" on the non-conference schedule, but when they play they look quite solid- more than some of what are supposed to be among the top teams in the country based on conference championships or any other measure. Bubble, schmubble. Hawks deserve a chance at the dance.
Today's game was fun to watch, good passes, spaces, and sharing of the ball by everyone. If they can bottle today's win and play like this in the B1G tournament, there's no question that they would reach the finals. It would seem odd that MN and IL are locks in the Dance as a #7 & #8 while #6 IA will not get strong consideration in the toughest conference (not the RPI BS of Mountain West)... Tomorrow's result of the remaining teams will be interesting...
RPI 71, Sagarin 35 and ESPN BPI "in."
RPI 75, Sagarin 37 and ESPN BPI still "in."
Gotta win and need some help.
Today, after the ISU/Oklahoma game, ESPN showed a 20-22 or more win IOWA team as a bad loss for ISU. Really? A big ten team with at least 20 wins is a bad loss?? Iowa fans can't complain much however, since every time ESPN does hype us, we fail miserably (see football).
Heard about that, but Digger thinks Iowa is in with a win over NW, and so does Jalen rose.
But let's just keep winning.
Let's Go Hawks!
Bumped up to 73 after tonight's win, but subject to change as there are still many late games tonight.
