Hawkeyes are at 72
Also, I'm not sure if this will have an impact on Iowa, but VT lost at home tonight to a 4-5 Georgia Southern squad....eeeesh!
According to CBSSportsline's RPI....Va Tech's RPI is now...108...ouch!
Yeah that Virginia Tech loss hurts.
Not really when you consider the teams Iowa will play in conference from an RPI standpoint. Iowa will get a huge boost from playing within its own conference.
They'll have plenty of opportunities, definitely. I always pull for Iowa's opponents regardless of whether or not they beat Iowa.
Iowa up to 52
Here's the latest, and the link below.
Iowa No. 54
UNI No. 88
Wichita No. 21
Va Tech No. 66
New Mexico No. 26
Iowa St No. 40
S Carolina St No. 329
Coppin St No. 279
Indiana No. 5
NYC, did you intend to post that on the Sagarin Tracker thread?
Exactly...........the Iowa SOS is going to be very high, having played Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, Illinois, MSU, Minnesota, Wisconsin within the conference schedule.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
Only posted on this thread.
Perhaps we should put the link there so we can follow it all season and not have a bunch of different RPI threads. It updates itself every day.
Hey, works for me.
I just started this thread with the intent to discuss Iowa's RPI as the season moves along and how the teams we've played are doing...(i.e. my mention of VT losing to a bad school at home)...and how our ranking will fluctuate because of it.
The other poll analyst used is the kempom.com and IA is within the top 64 teams. IA will be in if they can at least win half the BTN games, which I think they can. I think this may be the first year that Wisc will be in danger of not making it. Purdue most likely will not.
In fact, by doing nothing yesterday, we jumped all the way up to No. 43.
Dropped a spot to 53 ...just behind Ole Miss by .0001 and ahead of Pitt & Sparty by .0001
Iowa - 60
Iowa State- 55
Herk, which one?
According to Sagarin, the link in this thread, we are now No. 33 and ISU No. 32.
Now that's a big difference in ratings.
EDIT: sorry, I misread your comment NYC.
I'm referring to the RPI ranking...

Its not...but along with S. Carolina St hurting our Strength of Schedule, losses by W Kentucky, Wichita St and VA Tech have dropped our SOS to under .500 for the first time.
EDIT: VA Tech's RPI is now a whopping 169...lose one little game to Georgia Southern, and....

Thanks for clearing this up.
Let's all stick to this link when referring to ratings.
Sagarin much too generous, but sure would like be No. 33 already.
Let's Go Hawks!
Doesn't matter now since it's early in the season and IA hasn't played conference games yet. The BTN SOS will make IA very attractive to the Dance as long as they win games they are supposed to win and steal some victories from the upper half teams.
Yep, and the trickle-down effect is killing us....
Today's RPI has us tied with UNC...
55 Iowa State
56 North Carolina
Here's another link. Some strange ones in there because of strength of schedule like UCSB is 2-7 but have played the 2nd toughest schedule so they are rated 51 ahead of the Hawks at 62. It is kind of fun to click on the team and see the predictions for feature games it currently has the Hawks going 9-9 in the B10 and 20-11 overall which I would think would get them into the tournament.

SOS is weighted a little too heavily imo.....they should also factor in margin of victory.
Sure we've played some patsies, but we're taking care of business and pounding them. That should count for something.
If we were just barely getting past them (less than 10 pts) then sure, count it against us...but we're beating these weaker teams as we should, by more than 20 pts.
Yesterday, UNC beats "mighty" McNeese State and moves up to 51...Iowa beats Coppin State and we drop to 65.
Coppin No. 278, SC State No. 283 and Purdue No. 202.
