Wrestling owns the Olympics
I'd love to sit next to this guy. I think I could hold my own.
The guy wears frog pants, I saw him on channel 13 he is a fruit loop
me too especially if i was prepared as he is. my voice does boom a bit at sports events especially after 1 miller lite (or so).
Meh, I like crazy pants. Especially for formal events.
I know, he's got me on the rhymes, but other then that I'm right there with him.
Wrestling needs to rethink its calendar
I completely agree. Can't go up against the NCAA Basketball tournament.
Edit: I forgot to attach the article. Woops
Memo to the NCAA Division I wrestling committee: Move your championship to April. Move it away from the attention-inhaling men's basketball tournament. Move it into a spotlight all its own.

Yeah can you imagine if ESPN got the rights to the basketball tourney? Who would broadcast wrestling?
Most watched Nationals since 2004, I like it a lot and if anyone new watched it was perfect for drawing fans in, best nationals I can ever remember watching
Other than the obvious. I think an April date really makes sense. Ive always wondered why March. The article states because of individual post season stuff but it does make it difficult with HS State so close. Between HS tourney, conference tourney, nationals im spent.
I heard Gable speak at the Iowa Football Coaches Clinic last night (why a wrestling coach is speaking at a football clinic is...something we'll leave to a separate discussion, but that's ok). He mentioned the olympic wrestling issue (of course) but only briefly (I thought) and spoke a lot about leadership and influencing young people and continuing those connections no matter what.
Thought he was pretty good (some other coaches I was with didn't, but for some reason they don't like Gable/Iowa all that much) but I can see how others think him long-winded and a little scatter-brained. I think those people are missing the point a little bit, but that's just me.
dake is hodge weener - have not seen it here yet
You can make the case for Ruth too, but I won't, since I don't really care.
Good for him.
Can make a case for Steiber as well and Oliver but the fact he won his 4th and it 4 different weights was there ever any question. I didn't realize he lead the NCAA in pins though so maybe he isn't as lazy as I thought
OK, I'll add my 2 cents here.
I would like to see the NC tournament moved to mid-April, with the seaon moved back also to start in January. Let the holiday tournaments like Midlands serve as the start of the season.
I would also like to see the NCAA take over the Cliff Keen and make it a dual NC for the top 8 teams at the traditional NC. First round hosted by the higher seeds and then a final four weekend.
As Iowa fans, it is hard to swallow that Iowa is no longer dominant in the sport, even though there is no question that the Hawkeyes are still an elite program. We got spoiled by all of those NC's under Gable. But like UCLA fans in basketball, always demanding a return to the glory days in the 1960's under Wooden, Iowa fans have to remember that the sport is better off with vibrant rivalries between programs like Iowa, Oklahoma State, Minnesota and Penn State. Back in Gable's day, Iowa's only real competition was Oklahoma State. Now Brands has to deal with the Cowboys, plus Minnesota, Penn State, and several up-and-coming programs like Ohio State, Cornell and Missouri.
Maybe Iowa will win only once every three or four years. Or maybe there will be mini-runs, like Oklahoma State, Minnesota and now Penn State have had in recent years (along with Iowa) - two or three NC's in a row, to be followed by another school.
Admit it - isn't the sport better off with a higher level of competition?
Oh it is for sure 100% better, but the greedy part of me thinks it sucks
I guess I wouldn't mind pushing the season back a little bit. Something has to be done about the finals being on the same weekend as the opening weekend of the NCAA tournament. Having them both on the same weekend is insane (to me).
My thoughts on the national duals are well-known (at least to Brad), and I won't go into all of them again. Lets just say I don't like the idea of having the NCAA taking them over.
I am convinced that if Gable was in his coaching prime today, he would have multiple national championships and at least two runs of more than 3. He just knows how to coach, and he learns (more than anybody else) from his mistakes. Never seen another, and probably won't ever again, see another person like him.
The sport is better with a higher level of competition, but who says Iowa can't be the top of the competition every year and at every weight? The thing that would be better for the sport is if major D1 schools start wrestling programs, rather than cutting them.
Life is hard. It's really hard if you're stupid.
So I know it wasn't reported here (in fact, I reported it here technically) but when will McD have "surgery" on his "shoulder injury" that everybody has been saying he has? I mean I know it's the "off" season, but people still pay attention to this stuff.
Really, I'm just frustrated that people say that "oh he has an injury and as soon as the season is over he'll have surgery and EVERYBODY WILL SEE!!!!!!!!!! But I can't tell you anything else because I don't want to spread internet rumors" blah blah blah blah blah blah
Also, here's a pretty good article on McD from the Daily Iowan.
This is way off topic but have any of you guys seen "Jeva's" girlfriend? Or used to be not sure if they are anymore or not but If you haven't and want to let me know,
