Orlando Brown set a top-8 with Iowa included, however his profile lists 5 schools as "warm" and Iowa isn't one of them. Todd, do you know anything about him trying to schedule a visit to Iowa yet?
Four-star 2014 offensive tackle Orlando Brown of Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge, son of the late NFL standout with the same name, released a top eight Sunday.
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
Until he visits Iowa, he will be cool. Could you imagine bookend tackles like Brown and Piersbacher in 2015 and beyond. Holy crap!
I'm not convinced Brown ever has seriously considered the Hawks. I don't have inside info, but my instincts tell me that the interest is really more of an homage to his father. I'll be surprised if he leaves the warmer weather.
Well that will depend on whether or not he visits. I think he will. Gotta remember, when Iowa was recruiting his teammate at the time, Cyrus Kouandjio, he made it a point to introduce himself to the Iowa coaches knowing that KF was the coach and what KF meant to his dad. It maybe easy to say that he's entertaining Iowa simply because of his dad, but he knows it was KF who took his UDFA Dad and helped made him into one of the highest paid OL in the NFL.
And Brown is kinda in a unique position, that he's not limited to having to play close to home. Just because he's in Georgia now doesn't mean he doesn't know snow or cold weather. As I mentioned above, he played at De Matha in Maryland. He has family in Ohio (but I don't see him choosing Tosu, given Meyer's poor record of developing NFL linemen) and he has the means to visit whomever he wants to on his own dime.
But that doesn't mean that KF and Iowa can rest on that...they gotta work hard to recruit this kid. Hes on record now saying that in addition to his Top-8, Clemson and Notre Dame "are right there". Would love to get him out here for a game, show him the atmosphere...oh and a win would be nice.
Just watched him on tape at the Under Armor Combine...hes lost weight and looks phenomenal. His rating will be on the rise.

There's no doubt that he genuinely respects KF, and getting him to come out would help in a big way. It's just a gut feeling that his interest is fairly superficial, but I hope you're right with the optimistic take.
Ohio State will probably end up with more 2014 kids from Georgia than Ohio. Urban's offered only 7 from Ohio but 16 so far from Georgia, including Brown.
OL is a huge need for Ohio State in 2014. We'll start four seniors on the OL this year on a team that has a shot at playing for a national championship, which means lots of opportunity for 2014 recruits to come in and start or get significant PT as freshmen.
Not gonna start a new thread with this....
Orlando Brown (Zeus) @ZEUS__78
Good talk with Coach Ferentz #hawkeyenation
Yeah, I saw that tweet. Atleast Kirk hasn't given up on him!!! Too bad we weren't the $EC, we could just throw him a couple hundred bucks so he could fly up here!!! ;)
Before he left DeMatha to go to Peachtree, he told a teammate that this was basically nothing more than lip service..that he was doing it out of respect for his dad. I'm apt to believe that is still the case and Iowa has virtually no chance. Unless he commits to an official visit with Iowa, I don't see it happening and this is possibly a waste of time.
