Hey ya'll. I'm a Duck. I come in peace. I thought you may get a kick out of the ridiculous debate that spans 9 pages concerning your pink locker room.
Two relatively unrelated programs...and yet you've been half of what we've been talking about for a while.
Go Hawkeyes. Ames sucks.

What exactly is the crux of the debate/discussion?
As has been well documented, the pink locker rooms derived from Hayden Fry and his psychology backround. In some sense, it has become a bit of an overblown subject over the years, but it is a comical legacy of Fry, whom all Iowa fans hold in extremely high regard. All of us smile when the pink locker room subject comes up, mainly because it triggers memories of him. He was/is a true character.
Wow that got to 10 pages in little over a day? That's crazy. I always liked hearing the stories of Bo Schembechler hating it and covering the walls.
The crux of the debate is:
Why so upset over a color? vs. He called it a "girly" and "sissy" color.
That's some good reading. You know the football season has been over too long when the pink locker room turns into a 10 page debate on the Oregon board.
And thanks for the heads up, DYD. I always like reading outside opinions on that. Also I hate feminists, but that's for a different discussion.
YUP. I think I said as much in there somewhere around page 6. Something like,
"Stanzi throws a beautiful touchdown pass and this all goes away."
Ok I know he graduated but you know what I mean. I too enjoy reading outside perspectives on the ducks. See you around.
Oh, and I live in Detroit now and have been hitting up all of the big ten stadiums over the past few years. Iowa City is on my list for next year, so I'll be checking back in for sure. Peace to you and yours. Except feminists apparently.
Feel free to stick around
The off topic board could use another crazy poster or 2.
Edit: Let's keep politics out of this- Hawkifish
As long as you know, I wasn't wrong...

Ducks are up to page #13 and counting. Most severe case of cabin fever I have ever seen. Poor guys.
What was the professor, a female, who put up a stink about pink locker room a few years back?
Erin buzziwich, or something like that.
Thankfully, the press finally got tired of trying to create some sort of controversy with it.
With no football, little BB going on, people apparently have too much time on their hands?

'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
What I find funny is now after all these years people are complaining about it, DieHard hit it on the head about why they painted it pink, I can't find when they painted them pink but hell hasn't been pink for almost 30 years? Can someone verify that, I thought he did it pretty close to when he came, I could be wrong but they have been pink for many many years.
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
I think 1980 but I'm not certain.
Like Fish said, don't be a stranger.
That is what I was thinking but I don't like throwing out numbers unless it is right and I can't find the date
I don't want to make this political or all about my beliefs for obvious reasons, but I think its ridiculous that people are upset at the pink locker room. Get over it and quit being such a baby about the color on the walls. I think it says more about the people really upset about it than it does the team and locker room itself. Also, I think Iowa should have a pink out next season. Sell some shirts and donate some cash to breast cancer research, something like that would be really neat.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Lol couldn't make it past the first page.
Wow. 14 pages later and I'm done. This was my final response:
Ok. I thought about it some more. This is what i decided:
Keep the walls pink. Screw it. They all (mostly) say that it's because of the soothing nature of the color. So they dug up one random quote among many of the "sissy" nature. As long as they march to the tune of "it's soothing" then let it stay.
Anyone who then starts to get upset about it, you can say,
"YOU'RE the one turning this into a homophobic/sexist thing. Why don't YOU evolve and stop trying to project your prejudices on our fabulous pink walls." There. I think we can all agree on that. Maybe. The Hawkeyes seem to be pretty on the level.
Ok, see you all again when I come back for tailgating advice.
Ui that is seriously an awesome idea it would raise a ton of money and i guarantee you would never see so many men wearing pink at a location ever, if I had the money I would do it myself I could even think of an awesome saying for it. Kudos to u
