Since Baylor has 3 small guards starting, do you think Fran will change up the line up and install Clemmons or Oglesby and take out Melsahn? Or keep it the same and just have White on one of the slower guard and take advantage of the size difference on O?
I think May will have a big day. And White is due for a big night. Let's see if Basabe can handle their athletic big guy. Woody did enough vs Len. I'm sure he can handle another tall but young dude.
I am in the if it's not broke, don't fix it crowd. I think a lot of coaches are the same way, so Fran will likely stick with what has been working.
I do not think there will be any change in the starting line-up. I think Fran with go with the usual starters just because of the setting and the excitement of the event, see what works or doesn't work the first four minutes until the TV timeout, and then adjust accordingly. Will give the usual bench members some time to also get a gist of the opposing players' and the tempo of the game. Start with a zone instead of trying to keep up with the faster guys with our bigger guys and make them shoot the threes. They might be a little tight in the beginning also, so may miss some early long range attempts.
Last 4 minutes of the half will mean more than the first four.
i would agree gents. golden, who's d guy to stick?
Because of Baylor's athleticism, I think the Tower of London will have extended good minutes against them to swat the ball away. Basabe, May, Dev, and Clemmons will have some blocks too. I like McCabe and Woody but I think they may be a liability vs. Baylor tonight. We'll see... Go Hawks!
'fyi' - i've heard their 7-footer plays more of a perimeter game than your typical C, so perhaps taking Woodbury out of the starting line up and sliding Basabe to C would make more sense due to his athleticism....IF there is a change to the starting line up
i think Iowa should just play the line up that's been successful so far, but i really hope Fran has been coming up with plays to get Marble to post up their mighty might PG (who is their heart and soul)...if we get him in early foul trouble this game will be ours for the taking
Their 7-footer is a stick. In fact to hide his skinny legs he wears white tights.
Dance with who brung ya! There is no need to go all panicky and make a bunch of changes now. Situational substitutions according the flow of the game will be fine.
Life is hard. It's really hard if you're stupid.
Stick with the same lineup.
I've noticed Oglesby has been spending more time on the bench and I'm not comfortable with him playing more minutes.
I think we post up our taller guys on the mismatches and let them go to work inside.
Baylor is a pretty good team.
oh, i expect the hawks will try to make baylor adapt to them instead of vise versa. as the game plays out i expect to see long minutes out of clemmons unless he becomes a flapjack flipping turnover machine. i'm not sure how much gessell can help tonight.
Agree with golden........really, who starts doesn't matter much. You know White, Marble, May, Woody, Mel probably deserve to start, so I think Fran won't try to 'fix something that ain't broken'.
