Not shocked at all sadly
No one has confirmed this with Lemelle or anyone in his camp, or even cited a "source close to the situation." I'm trying to reach Lemelle as we speak.

Scout and Rivals are both showing him committing to UConn.
That sucks for you guys. He looked like a quality player who could really help the program.
They can offer Jones now, he is going to be better anyway.
You don't want to sleep with me? I don't care your fat and your boobs look funny....
So sad we can't ever finish a class out. I'm shocked but than again after a 4-8 season I'm not. Drink the kool aid boys but I'm sitting around seeing recruits admitly say its between Iowa & UConn... ing UConn really!
Dang. I thought we were for sure going to land him
UConn is a great basketball school.... Oh wait we aren't talking basketball
I am not drinking anything, I do know it is pathetic we are losing out to UConn. I still liked Jones better anyway. My opinion, my boobs.
If this turns out to be true then i believe it is because we dont have a WR coach at the time and he wasnt comfortable with that.
Everyone is pressing it pretty hard to not be true. And while I agree with you we still should not be losing battles against UConn.
A tweet from the AD at Lemelle's school:
"Congratulations WR Brian Lemelle #UConn #Huskies. PAs #1 receiving & yardage record holder. #McD"
If you don't like my opinion, at least you can enjoy the view
Pretty much sums up this recruiting class. Day late and a dollar short. PATHETIC.
Less than a day after visiting Iowa.

I really want your thoughts on this. I'm seeing in other forums that some fans are saying that not having a position coach could have been a big factor and then I've read the other side state that it must of had been distance. My question to you, because you seem removed from the situation and objective, was it position coach or distance in your opinion? My experience was you were with your position coach much more than the head coach. Also, in reading quotes from Lemelle himself, he stated distance wasn't really a factor but did raise concern about the position coach. Your thoughts please.
That's a great question. Assuming this is true, I think the main reason Iowa didn't get him was because there's no receivers coach in place. When I posted the predictions article about two weeks ago, I thought that was the final obstacle for Iowa to clear in order to land him. And as I posted in the thread with his interview yesterday, I definitely thought Iowa's chances took a hit because of that. I realize Ferentz was put in a tough spot. I'm not sure why Iowa waited so long to officially post the opening, but once they did, Ferentz's hands were tied, because he couldn't give away too much information. For a kid that was looking to feel comfortable first and foremost, not having met his position coach really hurt Iowa's chances.
Thank you Todd.
Sign me up i can coach 3 yards outs
I respect your opinion, but I wonder if you have seen the videos of our recruits. I am very impressed with them. The coaches brought in several guys that can play early imo. We lost Hill but when I compare him to a few of the others, all I end up thinking is, how is he better than this other DB." We have very good wr's commited and both lines are looking good too. At LB, I LOVE what Kenny brings, and if we get Spearman, then I will be very happy. We lost DE Kenney, but I truely think Spearman could end up being as good at DE although the coaches want him at LB. One on one Spearman is awesome. Check out his camp videos. If we don't get a DE then I worry there, but maybe the coaches know something that we don't. Anyway, thank's for reading!!!

Take me...I'll go 4 yards
Its interesting to note, that UConn went 5-7 last year, just replaced their OC this month, is playing in a league about to fold, and becomes part of a recruiting class that's rated in the 70's.
The Big LEast is a significantly less of a conference with more doubt to its future than possibilities. And yet, he chose to go there. So be it.
So what you're basically saying is there's nowhere for UConn to go but up...kind of the college football recruiting pitch equivalent of this...
But, there is always room to fall a little bit more...
