Anyone see him call Iowa the worst team in the B1G this year when he was talking about how Northern Illinois didn't deserve the BCS bid?
Is he right? I tend to think he is for this season.
Herbstreit is a walking tool bag. I don't like anything he says, when he actually talks up the program (very rare) I'm simply indifferent. If I could break his metaphorical face for his "commentating" in the NCAA Football series, I would. If I could actually punch him in his sternum for said "commentating," I might just because I truly find him that annoying and that much of a tool.
Also, we beat Minnesota and beat them pretty handily, everyone beat Illinois and most did it handily. No we aren't the worst and I still have a hard time of actually saying Indiana or Purdue is actually better than us, I think I'd probably but us in a 3-way tie at 8th place with all 5 teams being very bad.

Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
Funny, last year he picked Iowa to win the legends division.
You and Herbstreit are BOTH Dead wrong.
Did Herbie have some 'senior moment'?
Is Illannoy still in the Big Ten? Yes, they are.
And Herbie's cheating Alma Mater is SANCTIONED because they Cheat.
Remember that too.

'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
I think Iowa is slightly better than Minnesota and much better than Illinois.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Agreed....although, we may have had the worst offense in the B1G.
I don't have a problem with a sports commentator telling it like it is. The rub is that his statement was so general in nature. Rather than saying something like "NIU was beaten by Iowa, which was one of the worst teams in the Big Ten this year," he makes a general statement that Iowa IS "the worst team in the Big Ten." It may be semantics, but good broadcasters understand the difference.
I don't know, I don't think we are the worst team in the B1G but we were bad. We lost to CMU at home, enough said.
I see Herbs arguement, had NIU beat Iowa I'd argue less about NIU being in a BCS game. Point is if your a MAC school and you want a BCS game you better run the tables & have beaten a quality opponents. They lost to Iowa and beat Kansas.
NIU is getting a lucky break in my book and they don't deserve a BCS bid. Georgia, A&M & LSU should've been considered over NIU. I personally would have choose Oklahoma who lost two close games to two teams in the top 5. You get a qualified team with Oklahoma plus its not a SEC team cause everbody is SEC out right now and it's understandable.
You know, he singled Iowa out. But after watching the last 6 games of the year, if Iowa and Illinois played it would be about as ugly as it gets for B1G football. Both teams are bad. Is Iowa worse? Is Illinois worse? I get it that people don't want to hear that "their" team is the worst, and it stings. It's my school too. And maybe Iowa beats Illinois by a field goal so "technically" they wouldn't be the worst team in the conference. Semantics people. If our team is even in the discussion for worst, our team sucks. Iowa sucked this year. Bad, Bad, Bad. You know who had better be taking offense to that statement? Or at least have felt a sting? Captain Kirk Courageous. IF that didn't bother him, like apparently it did upset several others, yours included, then there is a far bigger issue. I would think it did. But what's to be done about it is the B1G question.

I really thought when Purdue came into Iowa City, they were a team in the dumps and probably the worst in the B1G. But, they won in Kinnick.
Iowa has probably the most conservative coach in the B1G and probably the worst offensive playbook in the B1G.
I'd say if we played Illinois, the game would be decided in the last 2 minutes and the final score would be something like 12-9.
Iowa and Illinois are a toss-up. Minnesota isn't much better. The only reason they made a bowl is because they played a patty-cake schedule before their conference schedule.
The B1G as a whole was flat out terrible this year. To be near the bottom of the league is just ugly.
Fellas..........Herbstreit, whose SANCTIONED Alma Mater has him unraveling, because of their CHEATING WAYs...........was DEAD wrong.
Apparently, Herbie can't remain composed while his CHEATING alma mater suffers the Consequences of their cheating years.
Dumb thing to say, Herbie. Maybe you need to move, again.
The Sagarin Computer rankings REMOVE the bias of a pinhead, like Herbie. Here are some of Jeff Sagarin's computer rankings as of last Saturday 12/1.
#41 Michigan St. (you might recall the Hawkeyes beat them)
and at #126 Illinois
Sagarin's computer ranks 245 College football teams, across America. It uses regression analysis to compare scores and records, based on who you played.
And here are the Top 5, thru the Regular season and Conference championships.
College Football 2012 through games of December 1 Saturday the BCS uses the ELO_CHESS from here
RATING W L SCHEDL(RANK) VS top 10 | VS top 30 | ELO_CHESS | PREDICTOR
HOME ADVANTAGE=[ 2.87] [ 2.90] [ 3.14]
1 Alabama A = 96.26 12 1 74.15( 35) 1 1 | 3 1 | 94.00 3 | 98.96 1
2 Notre Dame A = 94.97 12 0 74.83( 30) 2 0 | 4 0 | 96.86 1 | 93.16 3
3 Oregon A = 94.19 11 1 74.65( 33) 0 1 | 4 1 | 92.64 5 | 95.72 2
4 Florida A = 93.18 11 1 77.16( 16) 2 1 | 4 1 | 95.11 2 | 91.32 6
5 Kansas State A = 93.09 11 1 76.58( 19) 1 0 | 6 1
I don't have a problem with Herbie, he's unbiased and one of the better guys on ESPiN. Also Herbie isn't a OSU homer, in fact he calls out OSU so much that the OSU alum hates him. FYI, so Herbie and he's alum have nothing to do with this.
Point 2. Please quit using the Sagarin CPU ranking system. The system is absolute, at best. Two weeks ago this retarded CPU had a one loss FSU ranked 44th. Two years ago it gave the B12 the most love for home feild advantage. No one cares about the Sagarin CPU system, no one. The only people that talk about the Sagarin system are people that want to use a weak argument to back up a moot point.
"We'll the Sagarin had us ranked at...., the media poll is dumb". Really? Your going to roll with a CPU ranking? The CPU doesn't even watch the games. I'd feel safer letting a 3 year old girl rank teams off her favorite colors than the Sagarin. Only time I mention the Sagarins is when Iowa is not ranked in any polls top 25, so I'll say 'well Sagarin had us ranked' just to feel better about my self. When in all reality the ESPN fan poll, has just as much street cred to a knowledgeable sports fan.

I gotta agree with FU on this one. I think Herbie was better before he started working with Musberger, but Iowa sucked this year. This computer ranking is probably part of the reason Florida State gets a scrimmage for a bowl game. That does little to nothing for me. Herbie has shown Iowa love many times. Even as a tOSU alumni I don't despise him. I really want his job, honestly. Iowa sucked... Basically the whole conference did.
The computer takes the Human bias (error) out of rankings.
It's the purest form of ranking teams.
Said no one, ever
As long as the element of human error wasn't included in programming.
Herbie was one of the first to call out Tressel on his cheating, and stated that if Earle Bruce or John Cooper had done this, they would have been run out of Columbus on a rail. He left Columbus for Nashville because of the harrasment he was getting from delusional OSU fans - the same ones that gave Tressel a standing ovation two weeks ago.
