Is this a really good year for in state talent? I really don't pay that much attention but it seems like there are more 4 star recruits in Iowa than usual? Oh and
Since the other thread was locked, I'll ask again for some insight into this young guy. Don't really know much about him, and since he is listed as "athlete," it's always hard to gauge. Any posters seen him play a few times?
Congratulations. Scheel is a nice pick up. Your 2014 class is off to an encouraging start. It'll be interesting to see if Ferentz takes a page from other coaches' books (Hoke, Sumlin) and tries to fill the class earlier than usual but getting commitments sooner rather than later.
Re: Scheel, I am beginning to think that being pegged as an "athlete" is adversely affecting players' ratings, which is ironic because I would think the more versatile a player is, the more valuable he is--is Scheel a QB, WR, RB, DB, KR, PR, all of the above? Ferentz will have the luxury of having a skill player who can fill any one of a number of roles based on where Iowa needs help the most. But because they don't fit into one box perfectly but several boxes easily, no one knows what to call these guys so they get tagged with this ambiguous "athlete" label.
Good get for the Hawks. I'd like to see him have a shot at QB but I think WR might be his position down the line. Man that speed behind center would be nice to have though.
Hopefully Iowa can keep this up and get some other highly rated recruits. Two big instate players is a very good way to start the class off!

This is a great weekend. We beat Wisconsin and we get scheel. How's going to be next?

Yes, this is a very good year for talent in Iowa. Lazard and Pierschbacher are both top 50-100 caliber players which is impressive in and of itself. Add to that guys like Scheel and Render and this is one of the better years for talent I've seen in a while for the state.
“I’m committing to Iowa when I go to the Junior Day on the 20th,” Scheel told Voice of the Hawkeyes on January 12. “I’ll tell the coaches in person on the 20th.”
Well you dirty little midget clown, you knew about this for a while.
