God dang it. This is lame.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
This is pathetic.
This is 3 blown leads with just over a minute to go during conference play. This team needs that closer.
The Minnesota guy was out of bounds after Gesell got stripped....
i may be a callus s.o.b. ...but i'm putting this loss squarely on the shoulders of marble, don't care what his physical limitations are with the bumb wheel, but if he's well enough to play, then he better bring it mentally and emotionally or just stay in street clothes
yeah - saw that too - but does not diminish sloppy play today
Wrestling owns the Olympics
another give-away...just like last week.
So disappointing. Any chance of making it to the big dance might have just been squashed.
Man, that one hurt. Bad.
How was that not reviewed?
These games, like it or not, are the difference between NCAA tourney teams and NIT teams. Can't shoot ~50% from the line or throw the ball out of bounds or lose your man on an inbounds play.
Now for the good news: all of the aforementioned mistakes by the Hawks today are very typical of young teams, which Iowa undoubtedly is. Those are the types of things that will improve as the team as a whole gets more experience. The loss still sucks though.
I really don't know. He seemed to be clearly out of bounds.
Another great finish.
This season just about over, barring a miracle, which ain't gonna happen with this bunch.
I don't know how it was out on Gesell. Hollins clearly grabbed it while laying out of bounds.
There's still some opportunities for big wins out there. Have to sweep Penn State and Nebraska and get a couple of upsets. @Wisconsin and Minnesota at home would be very helpful and seem very possible.
Just one of many horrible calls/no calls. I don't know why I ever would have expected that Iowa possession to be called fairly.
I put it squarely on the coaches. Putting him in after sitting him out almost all of the 2nd half, and given how ineffective he was throughout the game, was perhaps one of the worst coaching decisions I've ever seen in Iowa basketball history. Given how hard some of those reserved were playing and how they got us the lead, Marble should have never been put in this game at that critical point.
Next year is our year....and while we should be good for the next several years (as long Fran continues to recruit well) I strongly feel it will be next year that is our best chance at making a deep run in the NCAA tournament...especially if Marble returns, which he definitely should.
You heard it hear first
The season ain't over by any stretch, so lets check the frustrations. Sloppy game. Again, FT's on the road let us down. Gesell got hammered on the layup and no call...again. Marble had no business being put back into the game as cold as he was. Gawd, get that toe checked out again.
i think may (or mccabe) was asking something of that fat pos ref - but he just turned away happy with the outcome
valid point....but he's an upperclassman...and that mistake at the end was one i'd expect from a frosh
we have have an outside shot at the NIT, but if you actually think this team is going dancing then i've got a rare $3 bill i'd like to sell you
