Round two of the Cancun Challenge in Iowa City tonight vs. Gardner-Webb of the Big South Conference.
Remember Campbell? They are a member of this conference.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are 2-2, which includes a loss at UNC and a win at DePaul.
Let's Go Hawks!
(And let's hope one of our teams shows up today!)
Thank god for basketball.
IA BB has Fran, emotion and fire are prerequisites, so IA BB should win with either offense or defense. It's getting the team to do both is the challenge for the upcoming BTN. Should be another live streaming event unless one has Mediacom ch. 22. Goodness for BB season!
Never in a lifetime would I have thought an Iowa-Gardner Webb basketball game would be more of interest to me than the Iowa-Michigan football game.
Gardner Webb did knock off Kentucky in 2007 to make I think it was the Preseason NIT Semis in MSG. The didn't finish with a winning season that year or any year since. They do play on the road at BCS opponents every year so the stage shouldn't be to big for them.
Their leading scorer is a 6'2" Soph guard who is averaging 14.5 a game. They only have two players over 6'6" one 6'11" that hasn't played the last two games an one 6'8" who plays about 10-15 minutes per game.
My prediction Hawks 77-62.
Same sentiment as BBR since he's planning to make the IA/UNI classic 4 weekend, lol.
Hope Fran has us prepared not to pull another Campbell (as mentioned in OP, GW is in the same conference).
I don't think GW will give IA too much trouble. GW may hang tough in the first half but IA's deep bench will outscore and outwork them in the second half. Similar to CMU game on Monday. The game with Wichita St will be their first real test of the season IMHO.
Speaking of Campbell, the fighting camels will play ISU at 6pm tomorrow. I hope Campbell surprise ISU like they did with IA last, lol.
This might actually be a decent game.
Anyone have a stream for the game?
I'm lookin for ya, king. Give me a few minutes.
Here it is fans: http://apps.ohlulz.com/ncaa/?lulz=rtmp://cp136856.live.edgefcs.net:1935/live&id=btdn_06_abr_1200@12640
Hawks are wearing gold early?
IA cold shooting and behind early, 6-8, around 15 mins. IA may need to go small...
It's nice that we can watch it on the internet instead of no tv but the skips and stalls of the live streaming is annoying sometimes...
IA is playing lost and shooting cold from outside, GW likes to play Syracuse zone defense. This will be a grind until IA gets into the offensive flow. Down 8-11, around 11 mins.
Yeah, the sloppy play continues from the last game. To be expected, though.
Poor ball movement and lazy passes. GW on 5 pt minirun, 16-8.
Oglesby is 1-13 from 3 for the season and 1-2 on FT tonight. Bad sign early.... 16-9.

Refs are kind of bad tonight.... IA playing bad doesn't help. 18-9 around 10 mins.
Josh really needs to get his head right.
Does anyone think that GW is getting away with a lot of noncalls tonight?
May is pissed about something, anyone have a clue?
