First time we have won three consecutive Big Ten games since 2007. We really did hit rock bottom for a while.
Now let's keep this streak alive.
No trap/let-down in Lincoln on Thursday.
Let's Go Hawks!
What does a "fairly good crowd" mean? I thought it was a sell-out. Do you mean something else, UI2015?
If you are referring to the energy of the crowd, it has ALWAYS been lacking at CHA since the day it was opened. Too comfy? Too cozy? No I-beams to look around? Perhaps it is only wishful thinking that any crowd at CHA could be as involved, engaged, and LOUD as those which used to be at the old Fieldhouse. Maybe that is an unfair comparison and only a figment of my old imagination and memory.
Barta should consider electrifying those seats down close to the court. When a Hawk score happens, an electric shock is sent through the seats- anything to get them ALL off their arses once in awhile. That would be nice (and fun) to see!
One thing that really impressed me was how Iowa didn't let up after taking the lead. A lot of times, a team that overcomes a big deficit will run out of gas and relinquish the lead. Instead, the Hawks just kept the foot to the pedal.
As we discussed back before the season even started, the back half of the conference schedule really set up nicely for Iowa to make a serious run at the Big Dance. One thing the selection committee looks for is how you've played in your last ten games. If Iowa can win four of these last five, there won't be too many teams playing that well at that stage of the season, especially when you consider the difficulty of the B1G this year.
Anyone there in person saw the other Chicago recruit, he's about 5'7" but a pretty good baller?
Yeah the sell out was nice, I meant the energy and noise level. Iowa was on a run for the last portion of the game and people would stand, then sit back down just to stand again 5 minutes later. Why not just keep standing and cheering until the good runs stop for a few minutes? It just never makes sense to me how some people would rather go to a basketball game and sit the entire time without cheering. I guess CHA is a bad environment anyways, it doesn't hold sound well and there are way too many staircases compared to amount of seats per row. Watch games at other Big Ten schools and compare their seating to CHA. No wonder it's not as hard to win their for road teams, it's not set up that well for fans honestly. I wish I could have seen a game at the Field house.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
going 4-1 from here on would be dandy--but perhaps not enuf in itself. who knows what might happen around the conference in the next few weeks, but 10-8 is likely good for 6th or a tie for 6th. surely the hawks will play a round 1 game in the b10 tnmnt--probably against a team lower in the standings. gotta win that one to stay in the ncaa mix as a bubble team. 2 tnmnt wins would be enuf to feel pretty good about the ncaa selection. only one b10 tnmnt win leaves a lot to chance and other events. the hawks would have a chance at the ncaa with a 9-9 regular season record and 2 wins in the league tnmnt. 9-9 plus 2 might be better than 10-8 plus one as a matter of fact.
