It was great to see Carver rocking tonight. When it's like that, Iowa is a very difficult place to play.
Definitely. It definitely played a part in helping Iowa pull out the win tonight. Its easy for the team to build off that type of atmosphere.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Yep, and in the long run, I think Fran's up-tempo style of play will only bolster that. Iowa is already a long trip for most B1G teams, and when you combine a loud arena with a team that's pressing and running, things can snowball very quickly against the visiting team.
Actually, we're getting the bigger boost from beating W Kentucky...they've won 5 straight, and are really helping our our SOS and RPI. They loss to Wichita St doesn't look so bad, they're RPI is 8...and I think that was more to do with us running out of steam at the end of the game.
Anyway, Clyburn looked uninterested..0-5 with 5 TO's in 24 minutes? Yikes! The game was sloppily played, at times. Gotta expect that with the freshmen, but last night was more of a complete game. Basabe was lucky not to get T'd up in the 2nd half. A vet like him needs to keep the emotions in check. The UNI game will be another test...next week?...sigh...but I definitely think its winnable. Looking over their schedule, they have no solid wins. Main thing is to see more progress, more efficiency, less sloppy play.
UNI doesn't have any great wins, but I watched them come really close to beating Louisville. The Panthers will be a tough matchup.
We all know how UNI likes to play. Physical on offense and slow it down, and try to get as many charges as possible on defense. I really hope Iowa gets payback on them for that game last year...
How do you guys see ISU doing in the B12? Here's what I see:
Kansas far away in a not-so-tough league.
ISU, K State, WVU and Baylor fighting it out for 2nd.
Not sure how the league will play out, but ISU will definitely play tough in it
