DANG IT, getting Offensive rebounds but turning it over. Giving them jumpers and outside shots. Falling for OSU, 17-13 with 9 mins. White and Basabe quiet so far. Wake UP Hawks!
The senior, veteran, all everything, Eric May keeping his Hawkeyes close.
Someone else step the **** up, will ya?????????
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
Gimmee a break.
Woody is a 5 minute starter, at this point, every night out. Fran must have promised in he'd start?
Woodbury has been spending a lot of times on the bench in almost every game. And I wasn't suggesting that Basabe should replace Woodbury in the starting line up, but I don't understand the two guard rotation especially when for a long stretch they both were out a few minutes ago until Gossel checked in!!!
IA can't score, down 7, 25-18, with 3 mins left before the half. Must keep the lead close or smaller before the half. Go Hawks!
Huge stretch before half here where we've been bad in a couple games. Gotta keep this one tight going into half.
Yeah because he makes freshman mistakes and picks up 2 early fouls. If he didn't get 2 fouls he probably gets a few more minutes before coming out and we definitely would have seen him again this half. He is a huge improvement on defense and he is one of the reasons Iowa's first half defense has been so improved this season.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
I think Basabe is one of the 5 best players on the team but 2 guards allows for better defense as White isn't great on D and neither is Marble so having them guard the 3 and 2 respectively is tough.
Iowa's kept it close but Thomas is just tough. No way to defend that three he hit.
very frustrating end to what was a promising first half....
IA too hesitant to shoot and confused on offensive sets. BAD last min gave OSU a bigger lead at 12, 34-22.
Iowa better start on fire next half.
UI - I respectfully disagree. Two 6 footers never helps your defense when your center is practically worthless and you're keeping your best shot blocker and better rebounders out. I'm sure the coaches know a heck of a lot that I don't know about this game and I respect their decision. But I scratch my head game after game about this because whatever it is they're trying to do is not working!!!
anyone else having deja vu ....feels like how we ended the first half at michigan
Yep. Just got on here to check comments. This may get ugly in the 2nd half.
I've had deja vu of several games this year closing out the half. The decision for White to take that shot with 17 seconds left and the shot clock off was horrible and should have been communicated from the bench to hold it.
I guess we just see it different then. Iowa has virtually 3 guys in the starting line up that can and have played PG which allows them to attack on the break as quick as McCaffery likes to. He liked two pgs at Sienna so I'm not surprised he does here too but I definitely think both Clemmons and Gesell play better defense than White and Marble both. Just my opinion.
definitely getting the feel of the michigan now....
was thinking EXACTLY the same thing....terrible decision making at that point
Iowa isn't very good on the road. Hopefully that improves with experience.
It's like they forgot how to attack on the road. Deer in head lights. IA down 19, 28-47, with 14 mins.
Finally, refs are calling fouls on OSU.
Iowa needs more inside physical play and consistent shooting.
I hate losing to the f.cking Buckeyes.
Can't hit FTS on the road either ....
THERE WE GO AGAIN, BOTH OUR PG's are out!
