You can just tell Woodbury has no confidence in his free throws.
At least this team doesn't pack in the bags.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
Their movement was choppy all year long!
Tough way to finish an impressive end of the year run. Looking forward to next year, although I think we might be overhyped a bit. I think we finish 4th.
Eric May just rocked Walton. Thank you May, thank you. Hope the kid isn't hurt, but he was a little cocky all night.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by movement? Just trying to understand your opinion better.
I really dislike the booing though
Mods, can you move this to the soccer forum?
Seems like things just don't go your way when you play as poorly as we have. We haven't had a single break and definitely no highlights for the game!
Watch the footwork and reaction to what is happening. It seems they are a quarter to half step slow. The Hawks always seem to play hard, but I feel they have to try and play too hard to make up for their athletic ability.
Thank you Eric May.
Fair enough. But everyone on this team who plays meaningful minutes is a D1 caliber player (meaning total package). Some might not be all that athletic but they make up for it in other ways (Marble is a great example of this). Another reason Iowa may appear slower is that they typically play a bigger lineup than their opponent. Iowa has a guy like White or Basabe out guarding a guy like Walton most games.
Stinks that he couldn't go out with a win.
Sad showing tonight considering how well they've played the last few games. This team may not be better than Baylor right now, but it's certainly better than they showed tonight.
Not that he reads these boards, but a huge thank you to Eric May for sticking it out and playing a part in the turn around of Hawkeye basketball. It's nice to have something to look forward to again after football's over.
If Drew could coach his damn team at all, this is probably a Sweet 16 team. I guess this natio$$$$nal titl$$$$e will draw more recruits though.
Good post all around.
This is probably a top 10 team in terms of sheer talent and ability.
Its really a shame that Drew can't do better. I know he has made two sweet 16s, but come on dude. Your team is stacked. No way they should have been 6th in the Big 12.
Too bad that Eric May couldn't get the story book ending, howver, he really has been a great, great
Iowa player. Really love Eric May.
Anyone know why Melsahn Basabe didn't show up for EITHER game at Madison Square Garden?
Mike Gesell played his b***s off tonite on a bad wheel. Good game, Mikey.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
I blame it all on Dev's shoes. It's like he wanted to stand out from the rest of the team, instead of being a part of the team. His play and shots sucked tonight.
Had Isaiah Austin played like this all year Baylor would have been in the tourney. He was beyond wildly inconsistent all year. Jefferson improved dramatically at the end of the year, a well.
And Drew has taken his teams to TWO Elite Eights in the last four years, both times losing to the eventual national champion.
Tough loss. It was a great ride for the Hawks this season. Some ups and downs for sure. This loss stings, but Baylor came out and played hard. Credit to them.
Congrats to Eric May. He will go on to do great things.
Cheers all. Can't wait for next season!
They haven't made a law against you having caffeine?
I agree. I thought Knight was awful on the broadcast tonight.
