Don't think he'll ever be below .500 again while at Iowa.
is Fran the man now?
There is a 50% chance your prediction will be wrong with the next game; but I'd bet the hawks win the last home game.
B1G is coming up even at the top now since IND lost at home OSU. There's a strong chance that the B1G winners will have co-champs, possible 4 way tie with MSU, Mich, IND, and OSU. I don't even want to figure out who's #2 seed at this point, will wait for this crazy conference take care of itself in a week.
50%? More like 3% chance we lose at home against a team we owe big time.
Iowa will DESTROY Nebraska at Carver. That debacle in Lincoln was uncalled for and revenge will happen.
Can't wait. Show no mercy.
The only thing to watch here is how each team approaches this game. Nebraska literally has nothing to lose. To even have a prayer at making the NIT with a .500 record, they'd need to beat Iowa and then make it to the finals of the conference tourney. So they ought to be about as loose as can be, they have confidence from already beating Iowa, plus the added motivation of playing spoiler and knocking the Hawkeyes out of NCAA Tournament consideration.
On the other hand, Iowa remains in a must-win situation, as a loss would pretty much destroy Iowa's chances of making the tournament as an at-large. The crowd at Carver should be rocking, and the players will obviously bring full intensity for 40 minutes.
The issue that sometimes pops up in similar situations, though, is if the home team is tight and starts slow, then begins pressing more and more over the course of the game.
Iowa really needs to get out to a fast start, and if that happens, I think the Hawkeyes run Nebraska out of the building. But especially with a relatively young team, the last thing Iowa wants to do is fall behind early in this game.
I'd be very, very careful with this game. The Cornholers are playing much better, late in season.
They took the IllWhini to the limit, in Champaign, last week.
Do I think the Hawkeyes will prevail ? Yes, however, the Hawkeyes need to really Bring it.
And especially with a starter, (Mike Gesell) on the sidelines, they need to get after it for 40 minutes on Saturday.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
Nebby just put away Minnesota.
Saturday isn't a sure thing, but it is very winnable.
Technically, even if they win against Neb, Fran could potentially end the season below .500. They could lose 1st round of B1G, then 1st round of whatever postseason tourney. Just sayin'
True - good point.
Ain't gonna happen!
This is seeming pretty accurate right about now.
Ties newly elected College Basketball Hall of Famer George Raveling for 10th all-time. Good thing USC didn't steal Fran after three years too.
