I think Fran needs to find more ways to keep AW involved. He is severely underutilized, IMO
Agreed, I think they should set aside a handful of possessions each game where they let Woodbury go one on one in the post.
I assumed he was referring to Aaron White. Clarification please, Scarlet?
Woodbury would have benefited from a redshirt tremendously
Yes I think Woodbury is not good enough to play right now
Haha oops, didn't even think about that.
Definitely. If he can put on 20 pounds or so he'd be really good because of his touch around the basket with either hand.
My bad for not pointing that out. White has crazy athleticism for a white boy
I love White as a player. He needs to develop more offensively in the half court. If he had a better back to the basket game he'd be pretty much unstoppable.
I'd agree with this. Dude needs to tone up too. He needs to get stronger
Yep. Good news is that he's a sophomore so there's time for that. I'm expecting him to take a big step forward this offseason. This team needs him to.
Does it make you feel better or worse than Nebraska never subbed one time in the 2nd half?
Neither. It doesn't change the fact that Iowa can't stop playing hard once they get a lead.
As posted before, Woodbury is a ZERO offensive threat. He didn't even shoot the ball against Nebraska. A redshirt year would have benefited. But I also understand iowa was desperate for a BIG. A positive for Woodbury is he offers inside defense.
Also, Iowa's supposedly best pure shooter, Oglesby, was 0-5 including 0-3 from 3-point.
Maybe Coe College or Wartburg could use his services. Right now it's like watching Mossbrucker use up a football scholly.
We have a ton of those guys on our football team
You can take it however you want. For years, it was always KOK's fault, now GD's. Everyone always seems to have someone else to blame but the person at the top.
FWIW, at least Fran will take the blame and not make excuses for the losses.
I'm not gonna read through all this bs, but I do want to add something that's probably been covered. You guys do realize how terrible Iowa was under LIckliter right? You guys do realize that Iowa will not be a program that goes to the NCAA tournament every year except 1 for an entire decade like they once did, right? Its just not something to expect unless your name is Duke, Kansas, etc. Even the great programs (Indiana, UCLA, UNC have missed the NCAA recently). Iowa was one of the WORST power conference teams in the nation 4 years ago. Fran McCaffery has done a great job at putting a winning team on the court. Iowa will easily be an NIT team this year, that's not even a question. I also don't know why people really expected the NCAA tournament this year (3 years removed from winning what, 11 games?) Building a program with a foundation of youth takes a while. Iowa will make the NCAA tournament next year. Fran's seat will not be hot if they don't next year. People are interested in what he's doing, and yes, yesterday was frustrating for us all. It has been a tough year with close loses and blowing leads. It happens, move on. I realize that we all love our Hawks and all hate losing, but its really just a game. Nothing this team does is in the control of any of the people that post here. I would really like it if people would step away from the ledge and let the team grow. They are still a young team with less experience than most Big Ten teams right now. Everyone else in the conference has grown at the same day to day pace that our guys have. Nobody can age faster, and until next year, Iowa still will play 3 freshman with significant minutes, and a handful of sophomores. Waiting is hard, but it will be well worth it, and we will all love McCaffery again in a year.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
What are you talking about? If Marble would stop tweeting, we would be national champions. Fans have control of this. If they would stop tweeting back, this wouldn't be an issue.
There is no pressure on him to get them to dance this year. However, Fran's seat will be warm if they don't make it next year, and will be red hot if he misses it again the following year...fact. We may only be lil ole Iowa to you, we're IOWA to most of us.
I never once said we are little ole Iowa. I love everything about the program, but lets be real, what has it been in my 19 years of life? Pretty poor from what I can remember. Kids my age, and under (recruits) will not remember, or probably care, that Iowa was once a really proud program. It takes a damn good coach to go on a huge streak like that. Look at Wisconsin with Bo Ryan right now compared to the rest of their program history. 20 years from now, they'll probably be where Iowa is right now. That's just how it goes for teams that aren't the powerhouses. Iowa will have a fun run under Fran, its going to happen. I also agree that his seat would be hot if they missed the NCAA for his first 5 years, but it won't happen. I'm not trying to knock Iowa as a bad program, I'm just trying to be realistic about the year. I didn't expect Iowa to make the NCAA tournament anyways, so I'm not disappointed in this season as a whole. I 100% expect Iowa to beat Nebraska, though, and I am vastly disappointed with the way the players and coaches adjusted in the second half yesterday.
Like most 19 year olds you haven't lived long enough to have a credible opinion. Iowa has a long and respectable bball tradition...suggest you look it up. They should be in the NCAA 7/10 years...period. I realize the Lick regime set this program back and Fran needs time to rebuild, that's why he gets a pass this year, and for the most part next year too. After that the seat will be red hot. For you to think otherwise is just someone without enough life experience posting nonsense.
Quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read. Since he is 19 he doesn't have a credible opinion? I think since you posted nonsense such as that, that means you don't have a credible opinion. Get real
wow, 3 pages... glad are people are getting upset. Basketball is back in IC.
Man, up by 19 then lost. Welcome to the BiG on the road. Down by 16 won by 21 sounds familiar?
...but scary thing is Neb will have 3 experience guys on the active roster for next year. Look out. That coach is doing a good job with those few players. ...However, Iowa shouldn't have lost but s-it happens.
Fran is still the man. Just needs a player or two that close the game. (What were other offers for Marble again?) ...Fran is doing many things right but last 3 min O... But the season is still not over yet. Let's see what people will say... esp after an Indy upset.
As for Woodbury- are you kidding? There's a reason that the defense has improved drastically. I know he's in there for only a portion of the game but... Yeah, wait until he's stronger and wiser. Domination! Now, Fran is thrilled with the kid.
I think you really misunderstood what UI was trying to say.
