How did he look this spring? I'm expecting big things from him at Iowa. Thoughts?
It seems like the coaches are excited about him moving forward. One thing I know is that he didn't practice yesterday, from what I heard is a minor back injury. It doesn't sound serious, so ideally he'll be back on the field by the end of spring practice.
I will secretly be cheering for him and Bazata. I was extremely displeased that we never offered Ott.
Could be the guy who ultimately starts at end.
Ott was my pick as the most likely break-out player on defense. There's just something about him. In what little I saw of him on the field, he plays with an explosiveness that really jumps out. Will be pulling for him.
Ott really had an amazing true freshman season when you think about it. He went from playing 8-man football in Nebraska to playing defensive end in the B1G in less than one calendar year. He's a tough kid, a hard worker and a heck of an athlete. It'll be interesting to see if he can emerge as a starter this season.
It's quite telling that the coaches didn't redshirt him as a frosh. That's usually an indication that they're expecting big things from him in his career.

Very true. And since he didn't play in the first half of the season, keeping him sidelined was definitely an option, but he'd obviously developed and earned the right to play.
and it shows how thin Iowa is at DE =(
Looking forward to see Ott become all B1G next year.
Good point, as there's no way he would have played if Iowa hadn't been so thin at that point in the season at defensive end. If Ott indeed has an All-B1G season in 2013, that's the type of breakthrough that could help bring Iowa's program back in a big way.
I should say the following year. He will be adequate this year. Glad Neb didn't offer for sure. Will glad to take kids like him and Reiff from Neb anytime.
+1 I was extremly bummed NU never offered him especially considering we need help there
