2013 ATH Demetrius Stinson let me know that he committed to Ferris State. Iowa had recently stopped by his school to check in on him.
What is a Ferris State
He was put in a bit of a bind. Two FCS schools (North Dakota and Jackson State) were trying to get him out for an official visit, and told him they'd offer when he got there. He was holding out hope that Iowa or Northern Illinois would come in and offer, and while he was waiting, those other two filled up. So he was sort of left scrambling without any offers just days before Signing Day. I'm happy for him that he'll get his education paid for and be able to continue playing.
That would suck and be so tough to have to deal with,
Maybe for a few days that's a legit feeling, but then when you step back and put a full scholly to play football in perspective I think you should get over it pretty quickly.
Good points by both of you. He's still very fortunate, but it's a bitter pill to swallow when he thought he'd be playing at the very least at the FCS level, and now he's at the D-II level.
i can't believe UNI couldn't use him...
Should've done what Anjeus Jones did...secure what offer you have while pursuing others. That way you're not the one left standing when the music stops.
I don't think they really recruit high school kids in Michigan. If he had reached out to them earlier, I imagine he would've been in the mix.
Thing is, those schools hadn't offered yet. They wanted him to take a visit first. And he had an official to Northern Illinois all set for last weekend, but was told on Friday that it was cancelled. In retrospect, he should have tried to visit one of the FCS schools the weekend before that. I'm not sure why he didn't.
