Poor guy. He's not the same since he tore his ACL. Only 9 years for a kicker. He's no Blanda ...but I'm sure he got more money than old George did kicking for 40 years. =) Good luck Nate and see you around IC.
As for Bob, I think he played in only 5 games since 08. Still holding on to any hope that he'll play again.
Injury causes ex-Hawkeye great to wrap up 9-year pro career
Nice Q&A with Kaeding here.
I guess some of you will see him over the course of RAGBRAI.
A conversation with the former Iowa kicker who retired Thursday.
That's unfortunate that Nate had to call it quits before he was truly ready to. Not trying to knock kickers, but one good thing about playing that position is it's still possible that he could make a comeback a few years down the road if his leg gets better, as there's less of an athletic/physical element to kicking than there is to positions on offense and defense.
When healthy, there really weren't many more exciting players to watch than Sanders. Hope he can make it back at some point and go out on his own terms.
Bob 'the Missile' Sanders hasn't retired?
That gets me stoked for NFL, if there's a chance Bob comes back.
