With the conference loaded this year how do you think Iowa will do?
I think Michigan and Illinois are overrated so far. I dont think either of them deserve the ranking they have. I think Iowa will have a good OOC year but think they will struggle some once conference starts.
What do you guys think?
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
As long as we get a W on 12/31/12, I'm good...
I think IA can win IND since it's at home and IA will be pumped to play them as a first BTN game. Crean knows this and that's why he's afraid of playing IA at home for a first BTN game per quote from the Gazette's article. Notice that next week's game at Mich tv schedule is unknown because if IA wins then ESPN or CBS will want to televise a showdown of upstart IA and another top 10 showdown in Ann Arbor. Then MSU comes to Carver for a third game, imagine a 2-0 start, and a sold out Carver to make it a 3-0. Well, wake me up when it's really true, lol.

Admittedly, I've only seen Illinois play against Gonzaga, but I was pretty impressed with the grit they showed in winning a tough road game on a Saturday night.
As for Iowa, before the season started, I predicted a 9-9 conference record, and I still feel comfortable with that prediction. I think the Hawkeyes are good enough to score an upset or two, but I'm not sure they're good enough to consistently play at a high enough level so as to win all of the winnable games.
I'm predicting a 10-8 conference record. 11-2 OoC. 21-10 overall. I think if they win a game in the BTT, they will make the NCAA's. A little optimism, but I think this team will just continue to get better once the freshman get more games under their belts. They are only scratching the surface of their abilities.
I certainly hope you are right. But we have to allow for the fact that our Freshmen are not used to playing more than 30 games in one season. They may run out of legs before they run out of season. If or when that happens we will lose a couple stinkers. I love the trajectory of the Iowa Basketball team right now, but I also realize that it is tough to win consistently with a team focused around three Freshmen. Every year we see some major upsets in February as veteran teams take a night off. With a much younger team, I fear it may be a little more of a problem. I hope not.
ILL-ANNOY and the Goophies have looked impressive so far. I think the Illini are overrated, but still deserve to be ranked in the 11-20 area. I don't yet have an opinion on Michigan.
I've watched Michigan State play a few times and they looked a bit overrated.
I don't know much about Illinois and Minnesota. I watched a bit of Minnesota vs N. Dakota St.?? or some team like that and they didn't look that impressive.
Michigan will lose games in the B1G.
And on the flip-side of this, did see that Purdue dropped a game to
Eastern Michigan, last week. And Northwestern has strugged as well.
The Cornholers got trounced by Creighton.
'Texan by birth, Hawkeye by the Grace of God'
I'm predicting that the Hawks will start 1-0 in conference play. . .
Probably 6th or 7th.
"I was brought in here to change the culture. I'm going to coach with passion" - Fran McCaffery.
That would be a huge win, to say the least.
Purdue and Northwestern have both looked pretty average. Purdue has dropped some really bad games. Same for NW. Iowa's 2 losses don't really look that bad right now.
Meh. I think the Hawkeyes should be beating average/below average basketball teams most of the time, so I don't think it would be that big of a deal.
I doubt I make the trip there this time just in case i jinxed them
What will you do next season if you don't go to this year's game and IU loses again?
