You think Jok is going to be a superstar Todd?
Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.
Iowa can definitely use another sharp shooter on the outside, so he'll have a chance to establish a role for himself right away next season. Whether or not he becomes a superstar may depend on how well he recovers from his injury.
Is he still hurt? I don't follow real close
No, he played this season, but he is still in the process of regaining all of his athleticism.
Well if he can play this good and average26 now, can't wait to see what he can do fully recovered
Being graded a 76 by ESPiN is freaking
Let's not lose sight that these are pure rankings of incoming Freshman and/or Juco's. It does not include transfers, red shirts and returning injured.
Iowa may be #11, but if you add a 20 year old top 150 player in Uthoff and red shirt Meyer, our class is much more solid. Same can be said for PSU with Frazier coming back, Northwestern and their walking wounded, etc.
Very good point! That definitely would have made a difference for Iowa.
Iowa can show that it has become a recruiting powerhouse by landing a few of the kids on this list. It is absolutely critical that we land one or two more consequtive top twenty recruiting classes for the Hawks to leap into an elite status in the Conference. Fran has shown that he can turn a program around, the question now is whether he can take it to the next level.
This kid would be a great pick up for Fran, I hear he's a dual threat driving to the hoop and off the fairway....
Think Jok could be the most underrated kids on the B1G recruiting class. Once a a Top 50 recruit and now a middle of the road 3 star due to his knee injuries. By next fall amen he gets top camps he should be fully recovered and ready to show the country what they missed out on when they stopped recruiting him.
it'll be interesting to see if ui suffers any off-season defections and what happens if they do. i'm pretty certain that marble will be better of if he plays a fourth year in college. importantly, though, my opinion will mean nothing to him. if he gets set on leaving, he just might--even if leaving means buying a ticket to spain. the notion of playing ball all day long can be a powerful lure.
ingram's future at iowa seems iffy, tho i assume he's welcome to see it thru.
I think it would be a mistake for Marble to leave. He only averaged about 15 ppg and had some games where he was non-existent. He lacks consistency right now, especially in his jumpshot. He needs to continue to work on becoming a better defender.
As for Ingram, I think if he sticks it out by his junior year he can provide some really nice minutes. He seems a bit out of shape right now and needs to focus on his strength and conditioning in the off-season. He has done some nice things when he has been in but needs to slow down as he gets a bit out of control. With May leaving it will open up some minutes for him to potentially take next year. I don't think a RS would be a terrible thing for him either. Next year we'll lose McCabe, Basabe and Marble and the loss of Marble will allow him to have more opportunity as well. Don't give up on him yet.
Your opinions count with us Silver. =) I don't think Marble is going anywhere... if he's smart. 3rd team all conference for crying out loud. Playing well down the stretch but that other stretch when he struggled. Yikes, this is not baseball.
I think it would be best if Ingram would redshirt. Or sit and watch Oglesby, Jok and Marble play next year and get in his minute of playing time... every 3rd game.
And look out for Nebraska. They have a couple of guys that are redshirting this year.
Why MSU is so low?
Were REALLY excited about next year with our 3 redshirts and incoming guys
Our scout team beat our regulars consistently
Goal in life is to make the Huskers Illustrated Hall Of Fame
Shut up Chad I don't care about the cornnobbers.
Someone mentioned us and just tried to chime in....
Think both of us will be good coming years
I'm a huge fan of Fran
when the player formerly known as lew alcindor was a freshman at ucla, first year players weren't eligible. to start the season, the ucla frosh team beat the national champs. it can happen, i guess.
Not trying to hijack the thread but curious what do you guys think of Mike Gassell so far in his career at Iowa,
it was kinda sad Husker fans booed him when Iowa played in Lincoln
I don't get why they booed him. I don't think Nebraska was ever a real option. I think it came down to Stanford and Iowa. It's not like he was from Lincoln or something. he lived a mile into Nebraska. I'm very happy with how he has played. 2nd on team in assists, 3rd in scoring, 3rd in 3pt %(not really saying a lot). He has had his struggles like any freshman but I think he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. Sometimes he gets a little ahead of himself and forces the ball up the court at times when it isn't there, but he's gotten much better at that as the season has gone on.
I know it irritated me when some people booed him almost everytime he touched the ball...Also Nebraska didn't have a coach since we fired Doc
Didn't Iowa fans boo Bohannon?
Same thing happened at Ohio State when Lucas and Havlicek were freshmen. The varsity wasn't defending national champs, but the freshmen were reportedly dominating them every day in practice.
...and some loudmouthed guard named knight.
