Clowns will be Clowns

  • Hearing on my extremely popular Twitter feed that I.S.who administration is investigating a
Clown student, or two who apparently threatened a Kansas Jayhawk player, during or after the
    meltdown in Hilton, last nite.

Wow, that's ridiculous , can't believe how stupid some people are.

But I wouldn't put all ISU fans in with that, I don't like ISU at all, but I am not going to lump all their fans into this, all fanbases have idiots. So I will say stay class clown.

I know if some Hawkeye fan were the one that posted this garbage, and I am sure there are plenty that are dumb enough, I wouldn't want to be lumped in with that.

Like when Iowa fans made death threats to Jim Bain and sold t-shirts with a noose around his neck. Slightly similar circumstances to the end of ISU game.

Every fan base has people who act like this.

    On the Jim Bain incident?

You must not be very old!

Dude called a phantom foul on Kevin Boyle and cost us the Big Ten championship. Lute was hotter than hot and went after him. He had death threats and he filed a lawsuit against the people who made the t-shirts. He was never put on the Iowa schedule again because of the threats. Upon further review, they discovered he was reffing another game that night so they made new rules on how many games they could ref in a day/week. That is it in a nutshell.

Yeah, tried looking it up after you mentioned it, said '82? I was born a few years after that. But yes exactly, some people can't see past the game and what really matters. I can't imagine saying anything like what those ISU fans said or do anything like what the Iowa fans that you mentioned did. And as mentioned, all fan bases have those idiots, anyone that says theirs does not is lying to themselves

It was quite the deal. This was pretty stupid by the company as well.

"In 1982, Jim Bain, a referee in the Big Ten Conference and a vice president of a mortgage bank, was sued for malpractice by an Iowa souvenir company. The company contended that a call he made enabled Purdue to beat the University of Iowa, costing the company added revenue in items sold bearing the school's logo.

The company also manufactured a T-shirt depicting Bain's head in a noose."

Can't even imagine if there had been message boards and twitter etc. when this happened.

Definitely would have been way worse, social media allows people to say many things with fear of repercussion

  • I was witnessed to the last minute meltdown in person with my clone friend in the sold out crowd. The refs generally favored Kansas throughout the game; however, in the last minute, the refs made two blatant calls against ISU for really no reason than to give Kansas a chance to tie or win. If anyone saw it, the foul against Niang while the Kansas player was on top of him while both are down on the floor and Kansas player was trying to control the ball or possession but lost it and Niang was called a foul for no reason with about 4.7 second left. The foul gave Kansas two made FTs that tied the game for OT. The other one was when Niang and Kansas player went after a loose ball but Niang had position and both went after it but the ball sailed out of bounds anyway; however, Niang was called for a foul when it should have been a no call or a foul on the Kansas player. The other big one was when the ref whistled a foul on Whitney which should have been a fifth one but another Kansas nearby quickly raised his hand and the ref never corrected it. All in all, the refs were bad and detrimental to ISU.

  • Yes, the officiating was terrible at the end of the game and very biased in favor of KU. The Big 12 has admitted officiating errors in this game.

While ISU fans have every right to be upset, it all could have been avoided had they made free throws in the final minute which would have sealed a win.

Common theme for the Hawks, not sure there is anything more frustrating in a basketball game than watching a team miss free throws.

I don't believe that these 3 refs, at least a couple of which, I recognize as Long time college BB officials were
'biased' for Kansas. They're doing the best they can, which some times isn't very good, admittedly.
But, the Refs did NOT lose the game for the Clowns.
The clowns lost the game for the clowns.

And ask Fred Hoiberg if you don't believe me. I detest the Clowns and their ignoramus fans, but
Fred Hoiberg is as class an act as you'll find anywhere. Good luck to the Mayor.

Loa is right on with this assessment. The one injustice that EVERYONE could see was the foul call against Niang that should have gone the other way. Does anyone in the forum think otherwise?

Niang has really impressed me with his play as a freshman. He was a great catch by the Mayor. Love 'em or hate 'em, the Clones played a great game and are a fun team to watch.

I would also like to see Iowa make 17 consecutive team freethrows one of these final games.

The end of the game was ridiculous and it made me pretty mad actually. One (completely) botched call changed the outcome of the game and that bothers me to no end. Obviously it doesn't justify calling Elijah Johnson the n-word on Twitter and threatening to shoot at KU's bus, but those two fans seem to have been justifiably roasted by the vast majority of ISU fans.

I don't really use the dv, but I don't see why people care so much, so what, someone didn't like your opinion. It's an internet message board, happens all the time, if that was I spent my time worrying about, I would be worried something was wrong

I don't believe officials would have purposely called the game biased towards Kansas.

ESPN stated last night that the social media threats were going to be taken seriously and charges may be filed against those who were foolish enough to post those messages.

ESPN also reported the statement made by the Big 12 in which they stated there were a few questionable calls in the final minutes of the game in which the officials made the wrong calls.

Like I said, I don't believe officials would purposely call a game in favor of a team. All I know is every time Ed Hightower officiates a game at Carver, he usually at many points has 15,000+ Iowa fans booing.
