Canzeri injuried

  • Per Moorehouse's tweet he's getting a MRI today. Guy on HN.com said he saw him today going to his place on crutches and a knee brace.

  • Guess it sounds serious. If there are any positives I veiw them as: 1.) it's better now than in August & 2.) he still has a red shirt he can take
Bullock, Johnson, Hill, Garmon are now going to have a lot of weight on their shoulders. I'd move Rogersto HB and let Weismann or Gimm be FB but the AIRHBG would pry strike again on Rogers so lets not do that.

Can we sacrifice anything to the AIRBHG to make it right for him

  • Feel bad for Jordan. Definitely hoping it's nothing overly serious.

  • Hopefully its only a sprain knee. The MRI will tell one way or the other. But frankly, Jordan Canzeri, no matter how much weight be puts on, TO ME, is not going to be anything other than a change of pace back, a 3rd down specialist. I know, I know...a lot of the chatter on him is that he is going to step in and be the man. And quite frankly, that thought scares the hell out of me. He's simply too small and light, no matter at what weight, to be an every down, between the tackles, type of runner, which is what our offense is predicated on. Pure and simple. I do hope its not a tear, because, to quote Sgt Barnes, we need "every swinging d*ck in the field".

Fred Russell agrees....also the thing that will really suck regardless of what he will be used for is the depth takes another hit

I never thought Canzeri was going to be the man as a scatback but Chris Johnson's, Reggie Bush's, LaMicheal James's of this world do exist and you know them when you see them. As for Canzeri I always thought he played bigger than his body which I give him props for but I didn't see him as an all purpose back. I really think DeAndre Johnson and Hill have the body type to run in between the tackles in the B1G, but I'm hoping for Garmon, Canzeri, Bullock to be great situational backs that can be a threat on the corners and out of the back feild on passes. Coker was great but he diffidently lack another back to compliment his style.

There are plenty of good small RBs that can carry the load by themselves. LaMichael James to name one

The Pac-12 has nothing on the physicality of the B1G. LaMichael James wouldn't last a full season in the B1G and probably just barely lasts one in the Pac-12. The fact is very few RB's under 200 lbs who can handle full loads in a pro-style offense. We'll hopefully still get to see what Canzeri can do this coming season, if not, check out James White at Wisconsin. He's a little bit bigger than Canzeri, but I think he's still under 200 and as a Junior he should be splitting more carries with Montee Ball than he has each of the last 2 seasons.

Fred Russell hammer for the comparison. Fred was a special player whose immeasurables exceed those of Canzeri.

It is very unfortunate for Jordan with the torn ACL. Its getting to the point that something needs to be looked at. There are far too many injuries happening to one specific position for this all to be a coincidence. Something in the warm-ups, turf, cleats, activities at practice or a combination there of.

Just making the point that size doesn't always mean players aren't going to be able to compete...same goes with Danny Woodhead with the Pats
