For awhile now, the key to Iowa's chances at landing Orlando Brown have hinged on him visiting. Click inside for the 4-star OT's latest plans and thoughts on the Hawkeyes.

As long as we can turn into a winning team this coming season, we may actually have a good chance with Brown, assuming we can possibly get him up here for the Hawkeye cookout thing before the season, as well as this spring and an OV. I saw on the Wisconsin site that he apparently narrowed his top 8 to a top 7, leaving out Wisconsin, so we really need to get him to visit sooner rather than later if he's content with eliminating schools 1 at a time.

This one is squarely in the lap of our head coach. Iowa's chances rest squarely on his recruiting talents. I think he can do it, though the odds are long. Brown's recent performance at the Under Armor Combine showed hes lost a lot bad weight, increased his flexibility and speed. His 90 rating won't be lasting for long.
He's visited 'Bama, Tosu, Georgia, Florida, Auburn...etc, etc...already...so Iowa and Kirk Ferentz will need to step it up. I think we will have a good idea where we stand when he sets up his OVs. If we get one, we're in the game.

A winnig team??? We might be in trouble.
Brown's a franchise OT but his short list is admittedly intimidating. KF's got to get him to come up in warmer weather. Cold weather tends to scare the southern kids. And even if Brown commits, whether it's to Iowa or anywhere else, KF needs to keep his foot on the gas. Don't stop. More and more kids are committing early, then second guessing their decisions as time goes by. Selling doesn't stop when the kid says yes but when he signs. Yes means maybe and no means go. That's the name of the recruiting game anymore.
Iowa has most of what he wants right here. Hopefully a summer visit would result in him coming back for a game as well.
