Definitely. I'm interested to see how Iowa approaches this because it doesn't seem like the Hawkeyes are targeting that many fullbacks.

    • Holy crap...as a sophomore was 198 lbs and ran 4.6...now is 230 and runs 4.5. I wouldn't pigeon hole him as a FB, hes not much bigger than Coker, but I think a great deal more explosive and with better feet and very smooth hips.

I'd love to see Arvanitis and HB Jeremiah Gaines both come to Iowa. Big kids with speed...

I'm not sure if Iowa would take a fullback, h-back and a tight end all in the same class. Out of those three positions, Jon Wisnieski is the top target. If Iowa lands him, do the Hawkeyes still target a fullback and/or an h-back?

Position wise, I can see your point...but athletically the goal should be to get all three of these kids in the program. Wisnieski is the type of player, we've always had. Tall, athletic TE with nice hands. Arvanitis does not need to be labeled simply at FB. I think he would excel simply as a tailback. And Gaines is the type of player who, at 230 lbs you split him out wide and let him kill the secondary. We discussed what kind of a nightmare he could be for defensive coordinators before. Coach Davis is lobbying for more speed, and these kids bring it, albeit in some unlikely positions. You can only bring in so many WR/DB kids, eventually you need some beef as well. If we can give a scholarship to Nate Meier, we can make room for all three of these kids.

I would assume after Wisnieski, we go one or the other with Gaines and Arvanitis, with Gaines having priority for what he brings to the table. Personally I've always admired how USC took FB and H-back type guys and used them not only to boost their running games, but also to how they utilized them in passing situations as an athletic guy to get out in the flat or run a wheel route with. I can only hope we get one of these guys who can possibly bring the same presence to us. Brad Rogers is a hell of a FB and an impact blocker, but I think there's a reason why he hasn't been used in passing downs beyond just O'Keefe's idiocy.

Moreover, to counter this point, we could go the New England Patriots route and get 3 big, athletic guys who can create matchup nightmare's for opposing teams. I wouldn't mind using Gaines and Avanitis along with Garmon in a full-house backfield either...tell me those guys wouldn't get you a little excited...
