Hawks "excited about" 2013 athlete

Godwin Igwebuike

Godwin Igwebuike is one of Iowa's top 2013 recruits out of Ohio. Click inside for the running back/defensive back's thoughts on the Hawkeyes.

    • That would be my goal in life...to go to scUM to be a nickel back. Sheesh

    • Todd,

after reading the article it sounds like Igwebuike is a Big Ten guy. If OSu and Michigan doesn't offer, Iowa has a real chance here. Igwebuike sounds like a fall back kid for those two.

Hes one of the best recruiters...but I wouldn't call him the best DC in the conference, not after one year. I would still rate Narduzzi ahead of him. Loved his kid though...

I dont think Narduzzi could have turned around the Michigan defense to what it became last year which Mattison achieved...also he has never been a DC on an NFL team, let alone with players like Ed Reed and Ray Lewis. Not saying Narduzzi couldnt achieve sucess there, but that lack of experience is a major whole in the objective resume.

Kirby Smart could... But for Mattison's sake I'll give him props for turning that worthless 3-3-5 scheme/players into something worthfull. As for your Ray Lewis & ED Reed arguement: both guys were phenomenal athletes before they got there not to mention they were both first rounders. Those guys can make any DC look good.

I think he mentioned Mattison's experience with the Ravens more as an enticing sales pitch on the recruiting trail. Prospects love to hear about great players that a coach has worked with, and I definitely think that's already paying dividends for Iowa with Brian Ferentz.

    • How about we discuss where Mattison sent his son to play college football:)

Mattison was @ ND and @ Florida yet sent Bryan to be with Kirk Ferentz!
